Iran is ready to pursue a âfair and equitableâ nuclear agreement and has never sought to develop nuclear weapons, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said following talks with Turkish leaders in Ankara.
In a post on X on Saturday, Araghchi said he reiterated during meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Tehranâs position remains unchanged.
âI reiterated that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and is ready to embrace a fair and equitable nuclear deal that meets the legitimate interests of our people; this includes ensuring no nuclear weapons and guaranteeing the lifting of sanctions,â Araghchi wrote.
He said the discussions covered bilateral relations between Iran and TĂźrkiye, as well as regional issues of mutual concern.
Araghchi added that Ankara, along with other âbrotherlyâ countries, has offered to help promote peace and stability in the region.
Tehran, he said, is âgrateful for such efforts and welcomes them,â stressing Iranâs readiness to work with regional partners to safeguard stability and shield the region from what he described as unlawful aggression.
Araghchiâs remarks came during an official visit to TĂźrkiye on Friday, as diplomatic activity intensifies around efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and explore pathways toward renewed negotiations over Iranâs nuclear program.
